This year, Grandma and Grandpa's Christmas gift to my preschooler was a box of white silk. But that was only a part of the gift. A day was spent with Grandma and her cousin, dying those silks different colors. The girls giggled and squealed at every new color. They would take turns choosing the next color, pouring the powder, admiring the colors and aroma of the end product. The smell of a fruit garden. The day ended with sledding and hot cocoa, and even more giggles. Grandma's gift was more than a toy, and even more than an experience. It became a memory.
